statement of intent

STATEMENT OF INTENT.

This project is for me to create a fashion magazine cover and contents page at an audience of  14-18 year olds.  The plan for my magazine is to get the attention of both genders as the items of clothing will be unisex and also there will be a male and female model. The genre of my magazine is quite ‘hoodish’ with a bit of tomboyish pop as that’s what’s in style at the moment. I was inspired to create a magazine with this sort of genre as it appeals to the younger generation more and stereotypically magazines that are for girls are quite full glam and nowadays girls fashion for teenagers have become more tomboyish and somewhat looking like boys clothes so I thought why not make a magazine promoting clothing of items that can be worn by both genders.

I will have a girl of colour on the front cover sitting on a chair or a stool in quite a feminine pose with como-print bottoms and a plain white t-shirt accessorised with gold earrings and a gold chain to show the contrast between her girly side and also the hood side. The reason I chose gold is because it gives us the connotations of rich, in the music and fashion industry most artist own chains that are worth loads of money. For the contents page I will have a boy of a different colour sitting down on the floor in quite a muscular pose showing off his outfit as i want this magazine to be available for both genders.
